If there’s one thing farmers understand better than anything else, it’s managing risk. That means diversification. And what’s better for managing risk and maintaining stability than a steady, consistent stream of income? Wind energy provides just that, with no extra effort on your part.
National Wind Assessments helps make that consistency a reality. With our state-of-the-art on-site wind monitoring and wind data analysis programs, we can determine the best implementation for making wind work for you.
National Wind Assessments works closely with you, the landowner, to outline and implement a utility-scale wind assessment program. Whether you are looking to develop your own project or attract potential developers to the area, our assessment team offers industry-leading equipment and reporting services. For most projects where high wind speeds are prevalent, meteorological towers are installed within the property as the first phase in the on-site data collection process. Since collection of wind data should be performed for at least 12 months, further development and feasibility studies can work in parallel with your data collection program. Please contact us to discuss your potential project in more detail. Our goal is to supply your project with all of the tools and data necessary to produce clean renewable energy for generations to come.
National Wind Assessments has worked with many individual landowners looking to assess the wind on their property. Read below to see what some of them had to say about the experience:
Craig Damstrom is developing a small 3-5 megawatt wind farm on his farm near Alexandria, MN:
I found National Wind Assessments to be an easy company to work with on many levels. Many wind assessment companies just don't work well with projects of a smaller scale. They have fixed prices for a lot of services and don't offer much choice in the selection process. National Wind Assessments was flexible and willing to work with my needs without requiring unnecessary services.
There are a lot of unknowns when you're trying to start a wind project. It's easy to become overwhelmed so it's very important to work with someone who has all the pieces of the puzzle. National Wind Assessments has a great knowledge of the marketplace and understood the deadlines and timeframes I was working with. There was a quick turnaround time on maintenance requests and no delays in helping me assemble my feasibility report."
Al Blum is spearheading the development of community wind projects in Iowa and has had NWA install four 60 meter met towers:
The staff at National Wind Assessments are very professional. Their workmanship is excellent and they take care to leave the job site in great condition once they are finished. They also do a good job working with the landowner and respecting their wishes."
National Wind Assessments works exclusively with utility scale wind energy projects. There is a difference between utility scale and small wind energy, which is a term used for smaller wind projects generally less than 2 megawatts. These projects use wind turbines to power individual homes or farmsteads to offset utility bills or allow off-grid capabilities. In most cases, a full wind assessment program is not necessary for these types of applications. It is advised to contact a small wind turbine manufacturer or your local utility to learn more about small-scale wind energy applications.
